    PhD studentships Area/American Studies available at the University of Oslo

    The University of Oslo has two PhD studentships available in Area Studies/American Studies.     New BAAS Honorary Fellow: Professor Simon Newman

    BAAS is pleased to announce that our former Chair, Professor Simon Newman (Glasgow / Wisconsin), has been named an Honorary Fellow in recognition of his long service to the British American Studies community.

    Elizabeth Bishop in Glasgow: A Symposium (26 to 28 June 2024)

    The University of Glasgow, College of Arts & Humanities, is delighted to welcome the 2024 Elizabeth Bishop Symposium to Scotland. Elizabeth Bishop in Glasgow provides an opportunity both to hear about recent and emerging work in Bishop Studies, and to consider Bishop’s writing in a Scottish Atlantic context. In addition, our symposium will consider the influence of Scottish writers and artists on Bishop’s writing and, in turn, Bishop's impact on contemporary Scottish writers. We welcome contributions from anyone with an interest in Bishop’s life, work, reception and contexts.

    The BAAS Executive Committee are delighted to announce that the 69th annual BAAS conference will be an entirely online conference, held between 10-12 April 2024. BAAS, in conjunction with the Green BAAS Network, are committed to reflecting upon the environmental impact of our activities, and to making positive changes to combat climate catastrophe. Proposals are welcomed on any subject in American Studies, broadly conceived: please see our Call for Papers.

    American Nineteenth Century History (ANCH) announces its new editorial team and calls for submissions.

    CFP – Special Section and General Section RSAJournal

    Dear all, we would like to share with you the call for contributions to be published in the Special Section and in the General Section of the 35th issue (Sept 2024) of RSAJournal, the Journal of the Italian Association for North American Studies (AISNA). The General Section accepts full contributions on any topic pertaining to American Studies, to be submitted through our website by February 8, 2024. The Special Section accepts abstract proposals on the topic "Book Erased: Print Word Censorship and US National Identity," to be sent by December 15, 2023. Best wishes, The Editorial Board
