Exploring how fans from different cultural and racial backgrounds engage with Korean media in local and individual contexts, this edited collection reveals complex transcultural affinities, conflicts, and negotiations.
YSoTAL Network is a new and growing network of young scholars who share an interest in transnational anglophone literature. Thematically, this kind of literature overlaps with what has been termed postcolonial, migration, and ethnic literature(s), but it is usually written by authors who themselves have a transnational background, and is concerned with the many ways in which the national is transcended even as the characters remain in bound motion between places and cultures.
The Journal of American Studies presents a new roundtable: 'Scholarly Perspectives on the American Right'. Contributors from members of the American Politics Group provide accessible and incisive interventions into a key question: what models, methods, and contexts allow us to best understand the rise of the American right, and to predict its future course?
The BAAS Annual Conference 2025 Call for Papers is live. We are inviting submissions for the 70th Annual Conference for the British Association for American Studies (BAAS), which will be held at the University of Hertfordshire between 23rd and 25th April 2025. The deadline for proposals is Friday 22nd of November 2024.
BAAS are delighted to relaunch our small grants programme in conjunction with the US Embassy London. We are offering small grants of up to £10,000 for cultural, educational and outreach activities that will foster American Studies and lead to a more accurate and constructive understanding of the United States in the United Kingdom. We are also recruiting for TWO Academic Directors and THREE Review Panel Members to work on the Small Grants Programme. The closing date for both the Academic Director and Review Panel Member roles is 23 October 2024.
