Call for Papers: Trans Liberation Now

The Trans Liberation Now! conference aims to assemble a wide array of scholars, activists, professionals, both cis and trans, working against organised transphobia and for gender liberation. The conference welcomes submissions from a diverse array of backgrounds and expertise, including academia, law, medicine, government, media, the charity sector, and activists working for liberation of other minoritized groups. Suggested themes for participants to speak on include, but are not limited to:

  • Understanding and countering organised transphobia in the UK and globally
  • The relationship between “gender-critical” transphobia and fascism and how to fight for a transphobia/fascist-free future
  • The UK puberty-blocker ban
  • Legal/bureaucratic efforts to impose trans-exclusionary measures
  • The intersections between transphobia and other minoritised identities
  • Feminist resistance to transphobia
  • Transphobia in the media
  • Transphobia in sport
  • Transphobia in academia
  • Online disinformation
  • Approaches to activism, resistance, and forging links with other marginalised groups
  • Myth-busting strategies

The Trans Liberation Now! conference will be held on Midsummer’s Day, 21st June 2025, in Bush House on the Strand Campus of King’s College London. The conference aims to assemble a wide array of scholars, activists, professionals, both cis and trans, working against organised transphobia and for gender liberation.
