This summer the New Voices in Postcolonial Studies Network is collaborating with the University of Westminster to host the first iteration of the American Dream / American Nightmare Conference. This conference is concerned with the fantastical and the horrific in the American context, exploring the best and worst of life and experiences in North America/Turtle Island across disciplines. We are currently seeking submissions for 15-20 minute oral presentation as well as A2 poster presentations based on the theme with a deadline of March 28th at 5PM GMT. We welcome abstracts of 200-250 words in application for this event.

Ideas/topics explored could include:• Aesthetics of the American Dream
• The Body in America
• US or Canadian film: from classic Hollywood to Hollywood North
• Experimentation and Experimental Narratives
• Indigenous Resistance and Resurgence
• The American Dream in the Jazz Age
• Environmental and Climate Justice
• State Cultures and Histories
• Utopias and Dystopias
