Symposium November 6th, 2026 – Sorbonne Université
“Trump/Brexit, ten years on: US/UK political theatre under the strain of contemporary instability”
Organised by Lisa Bertucco (Sorbonne Université), Agathe Faucourt (Sorbonne Université) and Xavier Lemoine (Université Gustave Eiffel)
2026 marks the ten-year anniversary of two events that profoundly redefined the political landscapes of both the United States and the United Kingdom: Donald Trump’s first presidential victory and the Brexit referendum. This anniversary calls for a retrospective look on the political forms that have since emerged on theatre stages, as the political environment became increasingly uncertain and unstable.
On this occasion, a one-day symposium organized by Lisa Bertucco (Sorbonne Université / VALE), Agathe Faucourt (Sorbonne Université / VALE), and Xavier Lemoine (Université Gustave Eiffel / LISAA) will be held at the Sorbonne on Friday, November 6, 2026. The call for papers (in English and French) is available here. Proposals (300 words + a short biography) must be sent by May 15, 2026, to xavier.lemoine@univ-eiffel.fr, lisa.bertucco@sorbonne-
