2025 BrANCA Symposium in Paris (Dec. 12 and 13)

conferences
Dear colleagues,
We are delighted to announce that the 2025 edition of the BrANCA biannual symposium will be taking place at Université Paris Cité on December 12 and 13. Gathering for the first time outside the UK since the Association’s founding, the participants will reflect on “Borders and Ethno-Nationalism: The State of/in Americanist Studies in the Long Nineteenth Century.”
Sneak a peek at the (provisional) program here: https://branca-2025.weebly.com/program.html.
The symposium is sponsored by ECHELLES UMR 8264 (Université Paris Cité), VALE UR 4085  (Sorbonne U) and  HCTI UR 4249 (Université de Bretagne Occidentale).
We will convene in the Olympe de Gouges building (8 pl. Paul Ricoeur, 75013 Paris) on the 12th and in the Halle aux Farines building (Esplanade Pierre Vidal Naquet, 75013 Paris) on the next day. This will be a hybrid event. Please reach out to brancainparis@gmail.com if you desire to attend remotely. Please note that due to limited staff not all panels will be accessible online but you will get guaranteed access to the keynote conference by Michael Boyden, the roundtable with Shirley Samuels, and the closing roundtable.
Simple attendance is free but registration is mandatory. Please register here (https://tinyurl.com/382dbzv9) to attend the conference. Dinner on the 12th will be free for registered participants who pay the 25€ participation fee. Please fill in this brief survey (https://tinyurl.com/342h23bk) if you would like to partake in the dinner. Both registration and survey will be open until November 30.
Best wishes,
The organizing committee
