The Southern Historical Association Graduate Council and Western Historical Association Graduate Caucus are delighted to welcome applications for the Fall 2025 SouthxWest Exchanges. Our Exchanges invite you to share your research in 5 minutes or less, a vital networking skill for all postgraduate and early-career researchers.

The mission of SouthxWest Exchanges is to build community among graduate students by providing an informal, supportive setting for students to share their work-in-progress with colleagues from a wide range of institutions. We can help you practice your “elevator pitch,” meet others in your field, and add a line to your CV!

Building on the 2024 joint SHA-WHA conference in Kansas City, Missouri, and the 2024 SouthxWest Exchanges, the WHA and SHA are pleased to be collaborating once more to hear about research in both Southern and Western history.

We welcome presenters at all stages of the research process.

This year, we want to invite as many presenters as possible, so we will be keeping this sign-up list open until we reach capacity for the event. Sign-ups will be first-come, first-served, so don’t delay!
