Background:

The Treatied Spaces Research Group is based in the School of History and Cultures within the College of Arts and Law. It is a flourishing and lively global research ecosystem that works across disciplines and sectors to make treaties and Indigenous environmental concerns central to education, policy and public understanding. The Group manages a portfolio of funded projects and has structured plans for growth aligned to the University’s ‘Connecting Cultures’ and ‘Thriving Planet’ research challenge themes.

The Treatied Spaces Research Fellow will work closely with Group Leads to advance new research funding applications at national and international level; support existing funded projects to maximise the value of outputs, impact, and contribution to the School of History and Culture; and contribute to knowledge exchange and other activities.

Main Responsibilities

Contribute to writing bids for research funding
Analyse and interpret data
Undertake management/administration arising from research
Contribute to enterprise, business development and/or public engagement activities of manifest benefit to the College and the University, often under supervision of a project leader
Deal with problems that may affect the achievement of research objectives and deadlines
Contribute to Departmental/School research-related activities and research-related administration
Person Specification

First degree in any specialism and normally, a higher degree relevant to the core research themes of the Treatied Spaces Research Group or equivalent qualifications.
Familiarity with Excel, Word and data visualisation software such as Canva.
Familiarity, or a readiness to become familiar with, UKRI, EU and other research funding opportunities and their associated processes, timelines and requirements.
High-level analytical capability.
Ability to communicate complex information clearly in written form.
Ability and experience of working closely with contested histories and the communities impacted by them.
Ability to work with sectoral and external partners.
Ability to contribute to the planning and organising of the research programme and/or specific research project
Ability to understand and keep track of research spend
Ability to work closely within a diverse team and global network
Fluency in relevant models, techniques or methods and ability to contribute to developing new ones.
