Prize and Recognition:

  • The winner will receive a £500 cash prize.
  • The winner will also be warmly invited to speak at History Lab’s 2025 Annual Conference and to submit their paper to Historical Research, the leading generalist historical journal and flagship publication of the Institute of Historical Research.
  • The four shortlisted scholars will each receive a £50 book voucher and the opportunity to present their work at a History Lab seminar.

Submission Timeline:

  • Submit an abstract (maximum 400 words) for a 40-minute paper by 29 November 2024.
  • Shortlisted scholars will be notified by 20 December 2024 and asked to submit a full paper (maximum 8,000 words) by 28 February 2025.

Second, we’re thrilled to launch a CFP for a unique teaching conference, “Teaching in a Time of Crisis.”

A unique collaboration between History UKHistoryLab, and HistoryLabPlus, ‘Teaching in a Time of Crisis’ seeks to bring together educators, historians, researchers, and practitioners to explore how history education can navigate and respond to contemporary crises. Our conference will be held at the University of Warwick on 29 May 2025.

To submit, please send a pitch of up to 200 words as well as a title, presenter’s name(s), institutional affiliation(s), and contact information to ihrhistorylab@gmail.com with the Subject Line ‘Teaching in a Time of Crisis’
