The Australasian Journal of American Studies (AJAS) aims to publish the best submissions from around the world on all themes and all periods relating to U.S. politics, literature history, culture, and film. We are calling for article manuscripts , reviews and columns (see below) written by established and emerging scholars for our upcoming 2023 issues.
Manuscripts following the conventions listed on https://anzasa.org/ajas/ can be submitted electronically to ajas.anzasa@gmail.com
All articles published in AJAS are peer reviewed. They are indexed in Historical Abstracts and America: History and Life. The journal is part of JSTOR and EBSCO, with content appearing immediately on these platforms.
AJAS awards a number of prizes for submissions: The Peter Coleman Prize ($250 AU) for the best article by a postgraduate student published in the journal over a two-year period. And the James Holt Award ($500 AU) for the best article published over the same timeframe.
In addition to articles, we welcome the submission of ideas for scholarly forums relating to new directions in the fields of American history, literature, politics, or film and multimedia studies.
And we would be glad to receive contributions to our “Books That Changed Me” and “Films That Changed Me” columns—in which contributors submit approximately 1,000 words on a work relating to the U.S. that transformed their life/thinking or scholarly practice.
