In this mini-lecture, Aisha Djelid examines what life was like for the women who endured slavery in the nineteenth century.
This lecture explores enslaved women’s experiences of slavery by looking at the types of work their enslavers forced them to do, and how they attempted to resist this, and then finally looking at the life of Harriet Jacobs as a case study for enslaved women in the South.
This mini-lecture could be used to compliment the A Level History syllabus. For more guidance on how to engage with this material, see our How-To Guide for Mini-Lectures.
