  • What: An essay competition aimed at 16-19 year olds studying American politics during their A Levels (or similar qualifications, i.e., Scottish Highers and International Baccalaureate)
  • When: The deadline for submission is March 16th, 2026
  • Length: 1,500 words (+/- 10%)
  • Submission: Students to submit via their tutor (see guidelines for specific instructions)

This essay competition is part of a broader project titled ‘American Politics Group A-Level Engagement Project’ that is funded via competitive excellence and impact funding from the Political Studies Association and run in collaboration with the Schools Programme of the Financial Times.
