baas-news

This year’s BAAS Schools Conference, “Power and Influence in American Politics and Society,” brings together scholars of the United States from across the UK, to broadly consider the nature of power, institutions, and pressure groups in contemporary American politics. The event includes confirmed sessions on recent voter trends in US elections; the role of Congress in the modern era; trade and tariffs in the era of Trump; and civil rights struggles in the twenty-first century. The conference will end with a roundtable and an audience-led Q&A. Confirmed speakers including Professor Philip Davies (De Montfort University & Emeritus Director, Eccles Centre for American Studies); Dr Patrick Andelic (Northumbria); Dr. Elizabeth Ingleson (LSE); and Dr. Andrew Fearnley (Manchester).
