Southern Historical Association Grad Council Online Event | "Deciphering Reader 2: Academic Publishing for Grad Students"

The SHA Graduate Council is delighted to host a panel discussion on the ins and outs of academic journal publishing. This panel will take place on June 25, 2025, via Zoom at 11am EST / 4pm BST. The panel will be made up of publishing professionals and scholars, including:

  • Dr. Bethany Johnson and Dr. Randal Hall, Editors of the Journal of Southern History.
  • Dr. W. Caleb McDaniel, Pulitzer Prize-winning historian.
  • A panel of graduate students who have recently published articles of their own including the Grad Council’s Tom Cryer (UCL) and Emily Lampert (Rice)

Whether you’re preparing to submit your first article or simply curious about the publication process, this panel will offer valuable insights, practical advice, and candid reflections on the world of academic publishing.
