Please join us to celebrate the launch of my new book, Antislavery in the Dissenting Atlantic: Archives and Unquiet Libraries, 1776–1865.
The book tasks itself with investigating when, where and how antislavery happened. It pays particular attention to print culture, material culture, and the materiality of print. It examines objects sewn by women including embroidered antislavery samplers and the sewn antislavery workbags and other items. Bringing together cultures of the everyday with better-known events, it seeks to capture antislavery’s many forms on both sides of the Atlantic.
