"We the People," begins the U.S. Constitution. But just who are "the People"? Who gets to be a U.S. citizen and what rights should they have? These are questions that have been asked and contested throughout American history, from the Revolution to the Trump era. The latest BAAS schools conference - aimed at students taking U.S. History or U.S. Politics at A-level or equivalent qualifications - brings together scholars of the U.S. from institutions across the North East to explore how those battles have been fought in the modern (post-1945) era.
